Tips and Techniques for Wedding Photography

Being a wedding photographer is both a rewarding career and of course, it can become a little stressful at times. It’ll take a clever and creative wedding photographer to actually come up with perfect wedding pictures. As a photographer, being able to take special moments on a special day gives me more inspiration on how to make my shots even more beautiful and memorable.

Here are some tips that I can give my fellow wedding photographers, especially for the amateurs to wish to become one of the best and known in the wedding photography industry.

- Communicating well with your clients is a must. You must know what the bride and groom really want. Like what sort of shot they want for you to take, the angle, the distance and even the effects that they want to see in their wedding pictures. Take note of these details and information.

- You must get to know the members of both the bride and groom’s family. Coordinate with their wedding planner if they have one and make sure to take good stolen shots of their loved ones. This is a very special day for the couple and for sure they want pictures of their family and entourage taken.

- Visit the location, the church and the reception venue ahead of time. This will give you a good idea of what, how and where you can take a good shot. This will also give you idea of what photography equipments you should bring. Know the lighting conditions of the place and with this, you can capture really good wedding pictures.

- Be prepared and expect for the unexpected. There’s a possibility that rain will come during the wedding, so make the most out of it. Scenarios like this can become a challenge and use it to your advantage. Take a good shot of the couple while walking in the rain and you’ll see it can even be more romantic. The groom running late and the entire entourage including the bride waiting and take nice shots from these scenarios and you’ll find different emotions unravelling. Turn these shots into something memorable that the couple will appreciate.

- Take a closer look at your background and foregrounds. This will add elements into your wedding photos. Most likely you’ll get to see numerous people on your subject’s background which means learning how to set your camera’s aperture settings perfectly is very important.

Being a wedding photographer for the past years is really an amazing job. It is fulfilling and it’s nice to know that you’re a part of a special day in the couple’s lives.
